Alexis Hansbrough is a graduate from the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Performance and Choreography and minor in Pilates. What draws Alexis to choreography is the feeling of putting the movement that she feels in her body, on other bodies. The process of creating movement that is analogous to what she sees and faces everyday. The best part of choreography for her, is the constant evolution of movement and feeling; similar to the eb and flow of life. While dancing at UNLV, Alexis was given many opportunities to travel and experience dance from an international lens. She performed her solo, “human” in Germany, competed in dance competitions in Greece, and traveled to Japan for her pilates certification. Alexis has found a true passion for pilates as well and believes that a mind-body connection is essential to combat mental, physical and emotional strain. She is currently a part-time instructor at UNLV where she is teaching pilates. She understands that listening to your heart will take you down the path you were meant to take. In the future, she plans on continuing her choreography career in Chicago and pursuing an MFA in Choreography.
