OLV celebrates opera’s African-American legacy by honoring the mega-accomplishments of beloved singers, conductors and composers who triumphed in spite of challenging routes to inclusion. Performers step into the spotlight with selections that pay hommage to superstars like singers Leontyne Price, William Warfield, Jessye Norman and Simon Estes; com-posers Scott Joplin and Terence Blanchard; and works like Porgy and Bess, Treemonisha and Lost in the Stars.
